Restoration — Hashlamah: The word hashlamah means completeness, equanimity and restoration. It speaks of a powerful manifestation of God’s plan to bring stability, and to reconcile all people to Himself. This message of healing, redemption, salvation, and wholeness brings real peace to the swirling, chaotic challenges of life; and it all began when God said, Let there be light! With doom and gloom all around, there remains an unfiltered light from God that is able to dispel and displace all darkness and fear. It’s His way of bringing balance and deliverance to all who are bound, as He sets the captives free. Through Messiah, God is able to expose all the blind spots, and reveal the hidden pockets of resistance that hold us back. He delivers us, so we can succeed in all that we set our hearts and minds to do. We must carry on fearlessly, and rise up from the place that we’ve fallen, to live in the high calling of God, and the destiny that is our rich heritage from Him. The One who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life," also said, "the truth shall set you free." It is how we learn to draw near, and walk in union with Him. The return of Messiah is near, and as we return to Him, we learn how to walk in all that He has called us to be. It is God’s unique unconditional love that causes us to overcome and excel, so we can speak with bold humility, and know that nothing can silence our freedom of speech. It is God’s breath of life that empowers us to walk in His freedom and liberty. By moving from desperation to inspiration, we are forever changed!

None Like Our God

The ancient prayer, Eyn Keloheynu (There is none like our God), has been a part of Jewish synagogal life since the 12th century. In many ways, it served as a rallying cry and prayer of allegiance to the only true God. It was strong encouragement during times of persecution and great challenge. With the inclusion of an updated version of Eyn Keloheynu, this album brings a unique mix of musical styles that focus on simple, uncompromised devotion to the One who is due all praise, honor and glory. In a world full of hatred and fear, the only solution for the torments of human frailty, come through God’s perfect love, as we are forever transformed and changed from the inside out. One of the key elements to successfully receiving answers to prayer, is by developing a thankful heart — an attitude that is just so grateful for all that God has done. Even in the midst of tragic events, a trail of tears, holocaust and broken glass, we must learn to listen for the quiet, but powerful voice of God (bat kol), through His Spirit and His written Word. As we recognize our need to know Him more, we learn to trust Him that much more. When we allow the Lord to fully take charge of our lives, and let Him guide us through all phases of our unknown and uncharted travels, we develop the assurance that, with Him, life is working out just fine! — Enjoy this musical storytelling journey! Special thanks to my family, for the additional sparkle they brought to this musical labor of love.

Rabbi Jan's 8th CD continues his musical storytelling legacy, with a unique & dramatic mix of song styles. A series of powerful musical messages that explore the intimate intricacies that create a lasting legacy — with strong violin highlights.

In Hebrew, Moreshet Echad means One Legacy, and speaks of the interrelated parts of our lives that we pass on to the next generation. This album was an unexpected gift, inspired and birthed by God. It was specifically written with violin in mind. Special thanks to Les Morrison for adding his beautiful and emotional violin harmonies in every song. Through well crafted musical storytelling, this uniquely robust, original song collection addresses some of the questions everyone asks, at various times in our journey through life. What will I be when I grow up? What is my dream and where am I going? What is my hope and how am I knowing? What will my life become, when my time here is done? How do we get free from the weight of guilt and shame? How do we diversify our life investments to assist future generations yet to come? As a part of our legacy, how do we keep it movin’ on from generation to generation, while we honor and remember all those who preceded us? Each day is a gift from God, and is filled with opportunity to replace our weak overwhelming with God’s great overcoming, as we put Him first in all that we do. Let’s take a stand for what is right, and make the dash between our bookend years count for eternity through Messiah and His plan for our lives. Special thanks to my wife, Marlene, and to our daughters, Tovah and Shoshana, for the added vocal sparkle they brought to this musical labor of love.

Through the Storms… Life is filled with storms, challenges and tumultuous events, but through them all, there can be heard that still small voice from God’s heart to ours. We need to learn how to listen better during all of life’s distractions. Learn to reprogram how we think, and find the peace and love that only comes from knowing God, as we pursue and yield to His perfect plan. From the moment that we met Him, we knew! God knows how to play the chords of our heart until we are perfectly tuned to His unique soundtrack for our lives. This album was birthed and written with violin in mind. Special thanks to Les Morrison for adding his beautiful and emotional violin harmonies in every song. With a wide range of musical storytelling, these songs display God’s commitment to bring us to total victory through a liberating, God-breathed humility. We must learn to get down, so God can lift us up! For more than 3,000 years, our Jewish people have longed for Jerusalem, and for God’s presence to permanently reside in our hearts. During the Days of Awe and beyond, HaShem calls us to make shuvah (return) to Him. Through Messiah’s great love, God heals the tattered and the torn. He teaches us to mount up with wings like eagles, as we learn to trust in Him, and soar above every challenge in all spiritual weather conditions. Thanks also to Marlene and Tovah for their added vocal sparkle.

Philosophy in the Forest: It’s often been said, “you can’t see the forest for the trees.” In a world of spin, filters, strong opinions and personal agendas, we need to learn how to simultaneously see both the small details and the big picture. Philosophy in the Forest: It’s often been said, “you can’t see the forest for the trees.” In a world of spin, filters, strong opinions and personal agendas, we need to learn how to simultaneously see both the small details and the big picture. Learning how to effectively challenge our own assumptions is a good first step in experiencing God’s purpose for our life. Through a wide range of musical storytelling, these songs bring a fresh look at familiar statements, and can provide some simple, but poignant, lyrical reality checks that can move listeners to the next level. Is it better to fall in love or ascend to love? What does it really mean when Messiah says, “follow Me?” These questions are just some of the unusual topics covered in this multi-styled musical journey, as well as insights into the secret legacy of fallen trees. When Anger Levels Rise, Sound Reason Disappears! In a world of environmental concerns, it’s time to remove the worst possible pollutant on the planet, by replacing caustic verbal vitriolic emissions with life-changing, God-breathed words of encouragement, within the framework of unconditional love. The most powerful environmental changes we can make for the survival of our planet, begin with words and actions that bring transformation and healing. Remember, there is no limit to what God can do, as we learn to fully submit our lives to Him. — Start A Quiet Revolution — Create A Zone, One Person At A Time!

CINCOpated Heart

With a play on words in the title, Rabbi Jan’s fifth CD combines a wide range of syncopated tempos, sounds and mixed vocal textures, together with a deep, heart-oriented message that has made his prophetic devotional, out-of-the-box, storytelling style a unique and varied musical experience! Most of the songs are in Hebrew and English, with three songs containing Spanish as well (assisted by Rabbi Jan’s fluent, Spanish-speaking daughter Shoshana). His wife Marlene, daughter Tovah, and son Isaac also provided vocal and musical assistance. So, where do we find the hidden fifth chamber of the heart? Certainly not in some new-age fad or weird sci-fi concoction, but in diligently searching the hidden person of the heart, and the place where we sing to the Lord and make melody in our heart to Him. Since the four chambers of our physical heart are busy pumping life giving blood, it must be that hidden fifth chamber where all these other experiences take place. In life, there are many voices continually vying for our attention and affections. With our hearts experiencing so many emotional tempo changes and spiritual palpitations, how do we make the right choices that will insure that our lives don’t spiritually flatline? Draw near to God, begin to hear the pulsebeat of His heart, and listen for His voice, as He takes permanent residence in our inner man. Through Messiah, He has given us His plan, and made His heart-felt intentions clear to us in His Word, as the Ruakh HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) leads us and guides us into all truth. Remember, there is gold in the mouth of the morning, so seek HaShem early and discover all of His hidden treasures. Start the Journey — Do Your Part — Seek the Father — Hear the Heart!

Along the way, our lives are filled with hopes, dreams, ambitions and choices. At first, it feels like there’s plenty of time to accomplish all of our longterm goals, but life has a way of moving faster than we ever expected. We blink our eyes and suddenly we’re looking back on all our past years. What is life? It’s a vapor, that appears for a moment, then vanishes away! Our success is not determined simply by having hopes, or even by our two-fisted determination, but is established by Who we know and how well we yield to Him. In fact, as we submit to God and His plan for our lives, it’s never too late to become more than we ever dreamed we could be! Struggles and challenges in life may seem extremely overwhelming at times, but God is always greater than our difficulties, and continually working for our good. His eternal resources are not limited by our humanly perceived limitations. He is not turned off by our frailties, but delights in helping us fulfill our destiny as He calls to us, “come near to Me.” Never allow circumstances or people’s opinions to rob you of your joy, peace and calling in life! Walk intimately with HaShem, learn of His ways, and He will direct your paths. Through the foggy mist and shadowy memories of our distant past, to the natural questions of our unknown future, God provides us with His presence, guidance and zeh hayom (this day). Yes, “today” is the gift that ties it all together. All the questions and struggles of our heart are fully answered in the person and divine authority of Messiah. He is the one who sets the captives free, and brings us into a large place in union with the Almighty. Be encouraged by His intent towards you, "There is an answer, don't you worry, I’ll not forsake you nor leave you alone!” Begin to trust God now, and embrace the joy of every gifted moment and breath!

Passport To The Heart

Time passes by quickly, and life is a journey. Our passports are stamped with memories of the physical places we have all visited. We have images that record our travels and the history of life’s every moment, but what about the passport to our hearts? Instead of stamps from countries and foreign lands, our life-record is stamped with emotions that run the gamut from the heights of great joy and accomplishment, to the pain and suffering of misunderstanding, betrayal, struggle and loss. Many things happen that we just cannot explain, and yet, over time, we experience the hand of God working all things for good —Gam Zu L’Tovah! Struggle and conflict are not the enemies of progress, they’re often the catalyst that builds the character and perseverance needed to fulfill our dreams. The secret is in listening for the music of His heart. It may seem like an unusual concept, but our lives are filled with all kinds of competing sounds and voices that clamor for our attention. It is said, “he moves to the beat of a different drum.” Music can move people in ways that words alone just cannot do. God’s still small voice in the midst of turmoil, requires an attentive ear to hear His directive for our lives, and to act upon it. He says He will give us “a new song,” and instructs us to sing and make melody in our heart to the Lord. Watchman Nee said, “The more a person learns of God, the finer, more tender, and song-like his feelings become. The deepest feelings that flow from a man’s heart are the feelings expressed in songs.” Listen for the music of His heart, and let Him carve out your full destiny! Let nothing distract from embracing Messiah’s call to action. The music of His love will never stop! Encourage everyone with His joy, and begin to set the captives free!

I am grateful to many people for the completion of this album, but here I only have room to thank Bruce, Bob, Charlie and Paul. I will have to thank everyone else in person! Special thanks to my wife, Marlene, and my amazing children, Tovah, Shoshana and Isaac, as well as my Beth Zion family, for all their love and support. Finally, thanks be to God, who grants life and sustenance, and has permitted me to reach this season. At my 40th class reunion, the question was asked, “if you could change one thing in your life, what would you do differently?” I said, “I would have learned a lot sooner, that no excuse, no matter how good it is, is a valid substitute for what we say is our call and passion to do!” Excuses actually delay what we say is important to us. It doesn’t matter if we can see in advance how it will turn out or not. Most of life is not known in advance — just step by step. Accepting accolades for potential is like getting an award for something we haven’t done yet. It’s all vanity and lies! Good intentions are never enough. God definitely knows something we don't know, and wants us to keep moving forward, as He brings us to places beyond our imagination. If God, who provides everything, is for us, why focus any longer on what we lack without Him? Let’s use our words and actions to encourage one another to fulfill our individual and collective destiny together in Him. I believe in God’s commitment to reconcile and restore what we often think is beyond repair. This is part of my rationale for what I call “my late-bloomin, baby-boomin, never-been comeback tour.” George Elliot once said, “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” Trust in Messiah and be fully caught up with Him! FYI, the album cover is entitled "Flight Over 911 — Learning to Soar Above Every Challenge!"
