Passport To The Heart
RABBI JAN / Jan Rosenberg
Time passes by quickly, and life is a journey. Our passports are stamped with memories of the physical places we have all visited. We have images that record our travels and the history of life’s every moment, but what about the passport to our hearts? Instead of stamps from countries and foreign lands, our life-record is stamped with emotions that run the gamut from the heights of great joy and accomplishment, to the pain and suffering of misunderstanding, betrayal, struggle and loss. Many things happen that we just cannot explain, and yet, over time, we experience the hand of God working all things for good —Gam Zu L’Tovah! Struggle and conflict are not the enemies of progress, they’re often the catalyst that builds the character and perseverance needed to fulfill our dreams. The secret is in listening for the music of His heart. It may seem like an unusual concept, but our lives are filled with all kinds of competing sounds and voices that clamor for our attention. It is said, “he moves to the beat of a different drum.” Music can move people in ways that words alone just cannot do. God’s still small voice in the midst of turmoil, requires an attentive ear to hear His directive for our lives, and to act upon it. He says He will give us “a new song,” and instructs us to sing and make melody in our heart to the Lord. Watchman Nee said, “The more a person learns of God, the finer, more tender, and song-like his feelings become. The deepest feelings that flow from a man’s heart are the feelings expressed in songs.” Listen for the music of His heart, and let Him carve out your full destiny! Let nothing distract from embracing Messiah’s call to action. The music of His love will never stop! Encourage everyone with His joy, and begin to set the captives free!
